Abstract:
The title compound, C(22)H(20)N(2)O(2) (2+)·2ClO(4) (-), was synthesized by the reaction of naphthalene-2,6-diol with pyridine-4-carbaldehyde, 4-picolylamine and perchloric acid. There is a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the central C-C bond of the cation. The two pyridine rings are parallel to each other, and the dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the pyridine ring is 80.68 (11)°. All the bond lengths and angles are normal. Classical inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect cations and anions, forming a one-dimensional chain structure.
