Abstract:
The title compound, [Cd(NO(3))(2)(C(11)H(13)N(3))(2)], was synthesized by hydro-thermal reaction of Cd(NO(3))(2) and S-2-(pyrrolidin-2-yl)-1H-1,3-benzimidazole. The Cd atom lies on an inversion centre. The distorted octa-hedral Cd environment contains two planar trans-related N,N-chelating S-2-(pyrrolidin-2-yl)-1H-1,3-benzimidazole ligands in one plane and two monodentate nitrate ligands. N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving a nitrate O atom build up an infinite chain parallel to the a axis.

Structural Isomerism
Isomers are different chemical species that have the same chemical formula. Structural isomerism of coordination compounds can be divided into two subcategories, the linkage isomers and coordination-sphere isomers.
Linkage isomers occur when the coordination compound contains a ligand that can bind to the transition metal center through two different atoms. For example, the CN− ligand can bind through the carbon atom or through the nitrogen atom. Similarly, SCN− can be...
