The solar UV B rays (290-315 nm) are absorbed by the skin, and 7-dehydrocholesterol (provitamin D3) photolyzes it to previtamin D3, which undergoes a rapid transformation to vitamin D3(cholecalciferol).

Directly acting muscle relaxants like dantrolene and botulinum toxin (BoNT) have distinct mechanisms and applications. Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the impact of vitamin D supplementation on immune response following tetanus toxoid booster immunization.
  • To determine if vitamin D influences antibody production and cellular immune responses.

Main Methods:

  • A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 32 participants.
  • Participants received 2000 IU of vitamin D or a placebo daily for 10 weeks.
  • Tetanus toxoid booster immunization was administered after the supplementation period.

Main Results:

  • Vitamin D supplementation significantly increased serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels.
  • A marginal but significant increase in tetanus toxoid-specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) was observed in the vitamin D group.
