Context:

High prevalence of borderline intellectual functioning (BIF) noted in pretrial reports for Antillean suspected offenders.
This study examines BIF and mental retardation (MR) in this population within a Dutch judicial district.
Utilizes data from 249 psychological pretrial reports spanning 2003-2008.

Purpose:

To determine the prevalence of BIF and MR in Antillean suspected offenders.
To analyze the impact of different IQ tests (GIT-2, WISC-III) on BIF prevalence estimates.

Prevalence of BIF varied significantly by IQ test used, ranging from 19.7% (GIT-2) to 47.8% (WISC-III).
