Abstract:
Despite a long geological history, information about the role of fungi in the paleoecosystem is only now beginning to emerge. Not only does the fossil record contain direct evidence of fungal diversity through time, it also provides information about interactions between fungi and plants, animals and the physical environment. This review summarizes some of the recent activities in paleomycology.
