    • Blepharitis showed higher prevalence in lower socioeconomic groups, urban populations, and Ashkenazi Jews.
    • Significant associations were found with inflammatory (e.g., gastritis, asthma, ulcerative colitis), psychological (e.g., anxiety, depression), hormonal (e.g., hypothyroidism), and cardiovascular diseases.
    • Strongest associations included chalazia, rosacea, pterygia, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and gastritis.

    Conclusions:

    • Certain ocular and systemic conditions are significantly more prevalent in individuals with blepharitis.
    • Further research into the pathophysiological links between blepharitis and associated diseases is warranted.
    • Improved understanding may lead to enhanced treatment and prevention strategies for blepharitis.
