Abstract:
A study was conducted between January 15, 1978 and January 15, 1979 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital Family Medicine Centre, to determine if there were differences in patterns of prescribing amitriptyline to depressed patients because of the patients' and physicians' gender.Male physicians prescribed amitriptyline less frequently to males than females once depression was diagnosed. No such difference was found in female physician prescribing of amitriptyline.
