Late post-traumatic spinal stenotic progressive myelo-radiculopathy.

Summary

This case study presents a rare instance of progressive myelo-radiculopathy caused by severe spinal canal stenosis. The stenosis resulted from thickened thoracic laminae and ossified spinal ligaments after trauma.

Background:

Spinal canal stenosis can lead to severe neurological deficits.
Post-traumatic changes in the thoracic spine are a known, though less common, cause of stenosis.

Observation:

A patient presented with late-onset, progressive myelo-radiculopathy.
Imaging revealed severe thoracic spinal canal stenosis.

Findings:

The stenosis was attributed to hypertrophy of the thoracic laminae and ossification of the ligamentum flavum and posterior longitudinal ligament.
Developmental stenosis or significant post-traumatic deformity were absent.

Implications:

This case highlights the potential for delayed neurological complications from seemingly minor post-traumatic spinal changes.
