Metastatic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma in the scalp

We present a 27-year-old Chinese male with a rare pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) that underwent transformation with metastasis to the scalp. To our knowledge this is the first report of a PXA undergoing malignant transformation and metastasizing to the scalp and provides further evidence that PXA may not be as benign as previously believed.
