  • Nurses from Emergency, psychiatric, and gastrointestinal units received a 1.5-hour training program or no training (control).
  • Data collected via self-report questionnaires at pretest, 1-month, and 3-month posttests.
  • Main Results:

    • Nurses in the experimental group showed significant improvements in alcohol knowledge at 1 and 3 months.
    • Self-efficacy and clinical practice scores significantly increased in the experimental group by the 3-month posttest.
    • The control group did not demonstrate similar improvements in the measured outcomes.

    Conclusions:

    • The alcohol training program effectively enhanced nurses' knowledge, self-efficacy, and clinical practice.
    • This training model is potentially applicable to nurses in Taiwan and internationally.
    • Interventions to improve healthcare provider management of alcohol use disorders are crucial.
