Purpose of the Study:

  • To endoscopically measure the choroid plexus within the interventricular foramen.
  • To measure key structures on the floor of the third ventricle.
  • To compare these anatomical measurements.

Main Methods:

  • An observational prospective study was conducted on 37 adult cadaver brains.
  • A rigid neuroendoscope was used to capture endoscopic images.
  • Recorded images underwent distortion correction and subsequent measurement.

Main Results:

  • Measurements included: choroid plexus in the interventricular foramen (1.71 ± 0.77 mm), mammillary body laterolateral distance (2.23 ± 0.74 mm), and tuber cinereum triangle area (3.69 ± 2.09 mm).
  • The third ventricle floor was opaque in 84% of cases, and internal mammillary body distance was absent in 89%.
  • Associations were found between a translucent third ventricle floor and mammillary body distances, as well as age.

Conclusions:

  • This study presents the first recorded measurements of the choroid plexus in the interventricular foramen.
  • The anatomical variables measured in normal brains were quantified, offering valuable comparative data.
