Summary

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can cause brain abnormalities, including mild cognitive dysfunction (MCD-SLE) linked to early white matter damage. Advanced neuroimaging reveals subtle changes preceding more severe neuropsychiatric lupus (NPSLE) symptoms.
