Ischemic optic neuropathies (IONs) are classified into anterior (AION) and posterior (PION) types. Prompt diagnosis and high-dose steroid treatment are crucial for arteritic forms (A-AION, A-PION) and beneficial for non-arteritic PION (NA-PION) and non-arteritic AION (NA-AION).
