RNAscope for In situ Detection of Transcriptionally Active Human Papillomavirus in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

  • 111 women used the HC Cervical Sampler, and 94 used the Delphi Screener.
  • Participants completed questionnaires on acceptability, comfort, embarrassment, pain, and preference.
  • Main Results:

    • Both HPV self-sampling methods were generally accepted.
    • The Delphi Screener demonstrated significantly higher acceptability and lower embarrassment compared to the HC Sampler.
    • 68% of women preferred self-sampling over clinician sampling, with a higher preference in the Delphi Screener group (77.6%).

    Conclusions:

    • HPV self-sampling is favorably received by women, enhancing cervical cancer screening participation.
    • The Delphi Screener, a dedicated self-sampling device, achieved the highest satisfaction levels.
    • Acceptable HPV self-sampling methods are crucial for improving screening in under-served populations and areas with limited organized screening programs.
