Summary

Eight new neoclerodane diterpenoids were isolated from Scutellaria barbata. Some compounds exhibited moderate cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines, with one showing selective activity against MCF-7 cells.

  • Eight new neoclerodane diterpenoids (compounds 1-8, scutebatas H-O) were identified.
  • Eight known compounds were also isolated.
  • Compounds 5, 6, and 7 demonstrated moderate cytotoxicity (IC50: 12.6-31.4 µM) against cancer cell lines.
  • Compound 1 exhibited selective cytotoxicity against the MCF-7 cell line.

Conclusions:

  • The study successfully identified novel neoclerodane diterpenoids from Scutellaria barbata.
  • Selected compounds possess cytotoxic potential against human cancer cells, warranting further investigation.
  • Compound 1 shows promise for targeted cancer therapy research.
