Summary

Dacron vascular grafts can cause inflammatory reactions mimicking infection. Replacing them with polytetrafluoroethylene grafts resolved these issues, preventing recurrence over two years.

Observation:

  • A patient presented with multiple inflammatory reactions attributed to Dacron vascular grafts.
  • Computed tomography (CT) scans revealed dense, pseudotumoral fibrous tissue with liquefaction around the grafts.
  • These findings simulated graft infection.

Findings:

  • Surgical replacement of Dacron grafts with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) grafts was performed.
  • Post-replacement, the patient's inflammatory reactions rapidly subsided.
