Summary

This case study details a large fibrolipoma, a benign tumor of fatty and fibrous tissue. Surgical removal was successful, with no recurrence observed in the patient after six months.

Background:

Observation:

  • A 50-year-old female presented with a recurrent, pedunculated, large mass in the right postauricular region.
  • The mass had been present for 13 years.
  • The tumor weighed 2.55 kg.

Findings:

  • Surgical excision of the mass was performed under general anesthesia.
  • Histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of fibrolipoma.
  • The patient experienced no recurrence during a 6-month follow-up period.

Implications:

  • Complete surgical excision is an effective treatment for large fibrolipomas.
  • Recurrence is possible but can be managed with adequate surgical intervention.
  • This case highlights the importance of thorough histopathological evaluation for large soft tissue masses.
