Brain volume reductions in prefrontal areas are common in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depression. Subtle differences emerged correlating psychopathology severity with specific brain structures.

  • Voxel-based morphometry with the DARTEL algorithm (SPM5) was used for volumetric analysis.
  • Standardized self-report measures of anxiety and depression were administered.
