[Investigation and analysis of depression occurrence in patients with chronic periodontitis]

To investigate and analyze the depression of patients with chronic periodontitis.

The subjects were divided t into two groups-those with chronic periodontitis and those with healthy periodontal (control group). Each subject was evaluated by questionnaire, the value of each questionnaire with Depressive Experiences Questionnaire (DEQ) and Zung Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) was obtained and the average value of each group's DEQ-A (dependent factor), DEQ-I (self-criticism factor) and SDS was calculated. SPSS13.0 software package was used to analyze the data.

The average SDS value in the chronic periodontitis group was significantly higher than that in the control group, the average DEQ -A and DEQ-I value of chronic periodontitis group was also significantly higher. The average DEQ and SDS value in the severe chronic periodontitis group was significantly higher than that in the mild group(P < 0.05).

Depression has some relationship with chronic periodontitis. DEQ-A,DEQ-I and SDS are significantly different between severe chronic periodontitis patients and mild chronic periodontitis patients; Compared with the control group,the scores of both the anaelitic depression and introjective depression factors in the chronic periodontitis group increase significantly.
