Notch Signaling Pathway

The Notch signaling pathway is a major intracellular signaling pathway that is highly conserved over a broad spectrum of metazoan species. A weak correlation exists between femoral intercondylar notch width and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) insertion site size. Women generally have smaller notches and insertion sites than men, impacting surgical graft choices.

  • Arthroscopic measurements of notch width and height were performed in 82 patients (41 male, 41 female) undergoing ACL reconstruction.
  • ACL insertion sites were identified, marked, and measured.
