Left paraduodenal hernia successfully treated with laparoscopic surgery: a case report

Observation:

• Abdominal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) provided an exact demonstration of the paraduodenal hernia.
• The hernia sac, approximately 30 mm in diameter, was located lateral to the ascending duodenum.
• The patient was also diagnosed with Graves' disease and treated with propylthiouracil to achieve a euthyroid state prior to surgery.

Findings:

• Laparoscopic repair was successfully performed, involving reduction of incarcerated bowel and closure of the hernia orifice.
• The surgical procedure addressed the paraduodenal hernia effectively, with no immediate postoperative complications.
• The patient experienced a favorable recovery, being discharged seven days after the laparoscopic surgery.
