Abstract:
The aim of the present review was: 1) to analyse the effects of tricyclic antidepressant compounds on the conduction system of the heart, the heart rate, the left ventricular function and the blood pressure; 2) to describe the methods used in order to evaluate these parameters both in vitro and in vivo; 3) to summarize all the data available on cardiovascular side effects of the newer antidepressants.
