  • 50 Fisher 344 rats were divided into five groups: control (ether anesthesia + splenectomy), immediate splenectomy under ether or ketamine/atropine/diazepam anesthesia, and delayed splenectomy (24h post-anesthesia) under ether or ketamine/atropine/diazepam anesthesia.

    • The timing of splenectomy in relation to anesthesia can influence the observed changes in T cell ratios.
    • These findings highlight the importance of considering anesthetic protocols and their timing when designing and interpreting immunological studies in rats.
