  • Vasculogenic ED and CP prevalence in young males requires further investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between vasculogenic erectile dysfunction (ED) and chronic periodontitis (CP).
  • To explore potential links in a cohort of young males.

Main Methods:

  • Included 70 patients diagnosed with ED, assessed using the Sexual Health Inventory for Men Questionnaire and penile Doppler ultrasound.
  • Recorded periodontal parameters including probing depth and periodontal attachment level.
  • Cardiac Doppler ultrasound was performed on a subset of patients with co-existing ED and CP.

Main Results:

  • Mild-to-moderate vasculogenic ED was most prevalent.
  • Chronic periodontitis (CP) prevalence was highest in severe ED cases (81.8%).
  • A positive correlation between CP and vasculogenic ED was observed, though not statistically significant. Vascular insufficiency was noted in 2 out of 5 patients.

Conclusions:

  • A potential association between vasculogenic ED and CP in young males is hypothesized.
  • Larger-scale studies with confounder analysis are recommended.
  • Longitudinal follow-up is warranted to establish causality.
