[Tuberculous pericarditis. A case reported and a brief review]

- Tuberculosis (TB) is endemic globally, with tuberculous pericarditis a significant concern, particularly in developing nations and among individuals with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
- TB can affect the pericardium through direct extension from mediastinal/hilar lymph nodes or hematogenous spread, presenting with diverse symptoms.
Observation:
- Clinical presentation of tuberculous pericarditis can be sudden, mimicking other pericarditis forms, with symptoms including cough, dyspnea, chest pain, edema, fever, tachycardia, and night sweats.
- Physical examination may reveal pericardial friction rub, liver congestion, ascites, edema, and diminished heart sounds, while chest radiography often shows cardiomegaly.
