Peripheral endothelial dysfunction is associated with gas exchange inefficiency in smokers

In current smokers, flow-mediated dilation (FMD) is linked to better ventilatory efficiency, suggesting a connection between smoking and early lung blood vessel damage. This association was not found in ex-smokers or non-smokers.
