Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate cognitive functions in children with migraine.
  • To compare cognitive performance between children with and without migraine.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 30 children with migraine and 30 controls (aged 8-12) were assessed.
  • The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-III) was used for cognitive assessment.

Main Results:

  • While both groups performed within normal limits, children with migraine scored lower in specific WISC-III subtests.
  • Significant differences were observed in Information, Arithmetic, Vocabulary, and Object Assembly.
  • Migraineurs showed deficits in Perceptual Organization, Resistance to Distraction, and Processing Speed.

Conclusions:

  • Children with migraine exhibit impairments in attention, memory, processing speed, and perceptual organization.
