Patients with hypothalamic hamartoma (HH) can have seizures originating outside the hypothalamus. A case study shows successful seizure control via temporal lobectomy, preserving the HH.

  • The patient experienced significant improvement in seizure frequency and quality of life over a 13-month follow-up period.

  • It highlights the possibility of independent extratentorial seizure foci in HH patients, suggesting tailored surgical approaches may be beneficial.
  • Further research into identifying extratentorial epileptogenic zones in HH is warranted for optimizing epilepsy management.
