[Balkan nephropathy. Current problems of pathogenesis and carcinogenesis]

An important characteristic in the pathogenesis of Balkan nephropathy is the long latent period between the start of exposure and the clinical manifestation of the disease. The pathogenic mechanisms involved in this process are considered in both the adult and the child. Certain essential questions relating to carcinogenesis are also considered, urothelial cancer being very often associated with Balkan nephropathy.
