Summary

Follicular bronchiolitis (FB) in children presents with chronic bronchial obstruction. Prompt diagnosis and corticosteroid treatment led to a favorable recovery in an 8-year-old boy.

Background:

Follicular bronchiolitis (FB) is an uncommon pulmonary condition in children.
Early recognition is crucial for effective management.

Observation:

An 8-year-old boy presented with a 5-year history of worsening cough and dyspnea.
Initial tests revealed obstructive ventilatory defect, miliary nodules on chest X-ray, and reticulonodular opacities on HRCT.
Histopathology confirmed lymphoid follicles with reactive germinal centers along the bronchioles.

Findings:

The patient exhibited symptoms consistent with chronic bronchial obstruction.
Histopathological examination was key to diagnosing follicular bronchiolitis.
Corticosteroid therapy resulted in significant clinical improvement and recovery.
