[(Z)-O-Ethyl-N-(o-tol-yl)thio-carbamato-κS](triphenyl-phosphine-κP)gold(I)
Abstract:
The title compound, [Au(C(10)H(12)NOS)(C(18)H(15)P)], features a linear geometry for the Au atom defined by the S and P donor atoms. A small deviation from the ideal geometry is noted and is ascribed to an intra-molecular Au⋯O contact [2.936 (4) Å]. Inversion dimers are formed in the crystal structure mediated by C-H⋯π inter-actions between centrosymmetrically related o-tolyl residues [C⋯Cg = 3.532 (6) Å].

Aldehydes and Ketones to Alkenes: Wittig Reaction Mechanism
The reaction begins with the nucleophilic addition between a phosphorus ylide and the carbonyl compound. Due to its carbanionic character, phosphorus ylide acts as a strong nucleophile and attacks the electrophilic carbonyl group. This generates a charge-separated dipolar intermediate called betaine. The negatively charged oxygen atom and...
