Summary

We report two rare cases of intracranial plasmacytoma, a type of plasma cell tumor, in women who experienced long-term survival. Surgical removal and radiation therapy led to complete remission in both patients.

Background:

Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare plasma cell neoplasm.
Intracranial plasmacytomas are exceptionally uncommon, with limited data on long-term outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To present two unique cases of solitary cerebral plasmacytomas.
To highlight long-term survival and successful treatment in these rare intracranial tumors.

Main Methods:

Case presentation of two patients with intracranial plasmacytoma.
Histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical analyses of tumor tissues.
Diagnostic workup to rule out multiple myeloma.
Surgical resection followed by craniospinal radiation therapy.

Main Results:

Two female patients (42 and 25 years old) with solitary intracranial plasmacytomas (temporal and parietal lobes).
Tumor tissues confirmed monoclonal plasma cells.
Complete remission achieved and sustained for 7.5 and 5.5 years post-treatment.
Patients received 40 Gy whole cranium and 20 Gy focal radiation therapy.

Conclusions:

Solitary cerebral plasmacytomas can present with favorable long-term outcomes.
Multimodal treatment including surgery and radiation is effective.
Thorough investigation is crucial to differentiate from multiple myeloma.
