Summary

Limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) is a complication of long-standing vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC), causing severe visual impairment in young patients. Early intervention may be crucial for managing this ocular surface disease.

    • LSCD is a significant complication of chronic VKC, leading to severe visual impairment.
    • Prolonged disease duration and chronic inflammation in VKC may cause secondary ocular surface damage.
    • LSCD necessitates consideration in the management of long-standing VKC cases.
