Middle cerebral artery thrombosis after IVF and ovarian hyperstimulation: a case report

Objective:
To report a rare case of left middle cerebral artery thrombosis in a patient after controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and IVF.
Design:
Case report.
Setting:
University-affiliated teaching hospital.
Patient(S):
A 30-year-old woman who had undergone in vitro fertilization and subsequently developed left middle cerebral artery thrombosis.
Intervention(S):
Ovulation induction with gonadotropins, IVF-ET, sodium ozagrel injection, and mannitol and albumin administration.
Main Outcome Measure(S):
Outcome of treatment.
Result(S):
The patient survived with some neurologic sequelae.
Conclusion(S):
Prevention of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is key to reducing incidence of thrombosis. Be aware of any neurologic symptoms after IVF-ET. Immediate and correct therapy should be given after thrombosis is suspected.
