Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate return-to-work rates and outcomes in young, active patients following hip arthroplasty.
  • To provide data for patients, employers, and insurance companies regarding work resumption after hip surgery.
  • To assess the impact of hip arthroplasty on patients' ability to return to their preoperative occupation.

Main Methods:

  • A multicenter telephone survey was conducted.
  • 943 patients younger than 60 years with a high activity level (UCLA score ≥ 6) were included.
  • Data were collected at least 1 year after hip arthroplasty surgery performed between 2005 and 2007.

  • A high return-to-work rate of 90.4% was observed among employed patients.
