Interleukin-18 promoter polymorphism and asthma risk: a meta-analysis

- No significant association was found between the IL-18 -137G/C polymorphism and asthma risk across different models.
- No evidence of publication bias was detected for either polymorphism.
Conclusions:
- The IL-18 -607C/A polymorphism in the promoter region is associated with an increased risk of asthma.
- The IL-18 -137G/C polymorphism does not appear to be significantly associated with asthma risk.
- This meta-analysis provides stronger evidence for the role of specific IL-18 genetic variations in asthma susceptibility.
