  • Liao ning virus (LNV) belongs to the Seadornavirus genus (Reoviridae family), possessing a 12-segment dsRNA genome.
  • Transmitted by mosquitoes, LNV has been exclusively isolated in China and is unique within its genus for propagation in mammalian cell lines.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report 41 new LNV isolates from Xinjiang, China.
  • To describe phylogenetic relationships among 46 Chinese LNV isolates.

Main Methods:

  • Phylogenetic analysis using partial nucleotide sequences of the 10th genome segment (encoding outer coat proteins).
  • Bayesian coalescent analysis to estimate the most recent common ancestor and evolutionary rates.
