Summary

This study presents a surgical technique for removing dermolipomas using rotational conjunctival flaps. This method offers satisfactory cosmetic outcomes and effective conjunctival reconstruction after dermolipoma excision.

Background:

Dermolipomas are benign tumors often requiring surgical intervention.
Large dermolipomas can involve significant conjunctival adhesion, complicating resection and reconstruction.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe a surgical technique for dermolipoma resection.
To evaluate the efficacy of rotational conjunctival flaps for reconstruction after dermolipoma removal.

Main Methods:

A retrospective case series of 16 patients undergoing surgical resection of dermolipomas.
Technique involved excision of the dermolipoma with adherent conjunctiva and reconstruction using rotational conjunctival flaps.

Main Results:

All 16 patients achieved satisfactory cosmetic outcomes.

No recurrence, symblepharon, or significant scarring was observed.

Minor, transient complications (blepharoptosis, gaze limitation) occurred in two patients.

Conclusions:

Rotational conjunctival flaps are effective for conjunctival reconstruction after dermolipoma removal.
This technique provides good cosmetic results and minimizes complications.
