Summary

Three-dimensional segmented echo planar imaging (3D-EPI) offers higher resolution for functional MRI. While it can reduce temporal signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in humans due to physiological factors, 3D-EPI still outperforms 2D-EPI in low SNR conditions.
