Developing information leaflets for parents of children with cancer
1East Midlands Children's and Young Person's Integrated Cancer Service, Nottingham Children's Hospital.
Abstract:
Information aids parents' understanding of and adjustment to their child's disease and treatment, and their ability to care for their child safely at home. This article describes the development of a leaflet on conditions, treatments, side effects, management advice and contacts for parents of children receiving treatment for cancer using an Ommaya reservoir. Health professionals should be aware of developments in health care, to ensure that current evidence-based information for families is provided.
