Summary

This study reveals distinct T-cell immune features in the human placenta. CD3-delta gene expression is higher in the placenta, while CD3-gamma, -epsilon, and -zeta genes are significantly lower compared to umbilical cord blood.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To characterize the expression patterns of CD3-gamma, -delta, -epsilon, and -zeta chain genes in the human placenta.
  • To compare placental T-cell gene expression with that of umbilical cord blood.

Main Methods:

  • Real-time PCR was used to analyze mRNA expression levels of CD3 gene chains in placental tissue.
  • Umbilical cord blood (CB) from healthy newborns served as a control.
  • Beta2-microglobulin gene was used as an endogenous reference for normalization.

Main Results:

  • Placental expression of CD3-gamma, -epsilon, and -zeta genes was significantly lower than in CB (P<0.0001).
