Type I interferon (IFN) and endosomal Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are implicated in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs), including juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM), dermatomyositis, and polymyositis (PM). These innate immunity pathways suggest potential viral involvement in IIM pathogenesis.
