[Deficit of polyunsaturated fatty acids in patients with celiac disease]
Unlabelled:
The aim--to study fatty acid composition of lipids in blood serum of patients with celiac disease, their role in metabolic processes and methods of therapy.
Materials And Methods:
The study included 28 patients with celiac disease with malabsorption syndrome III degree: 20 women and 8 men aged 17 to 45 years. Was determined: steatorrhea with help of chemical quantitative method of Van de Kamer, fatty acids in blood serum lipids by thin layer and gas chromatography.
Results:
There was a substantial steatorrhea in patients with celiac disease with malabsorption syndrome III in severity. Most patients with celiac disease were found to decrease the essential fatty acids, the most significant--arachidonic acid, which leads to disruption of the synthesis of prostaglandins, prostacyclin, a tendency to thrombosis. Parenteral administration of the drug essentiale helps normalize the fatty acid composition of serum.
