The rectangular tunnel ACL reconstruction (RT ACLR) offers a viable solution for revision surgeries, demonstrating acceptable outcomes in patients needing repeat anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

  • Eighteen patients were followed for a minimum of 24 months, with evaluations including Range of Motion (ROM), International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) scores, and KT-1000 stability measurements.
  • Main Results:

    • The RT ACLR technique was successfully applied in 30 out of 31 cases.
    • One graft rerupture occurred at 28 months in the 18 followed patients.
    • Of the remaining 17 patients, 15 achieved full ROM, 11 were IKDC normal, and 6 nearly normal, with KT-1000 stability averaging 1.0 ± 1.5 mm.

    Conclusions:

    • The RT ACLR technique yields acceptable results for one-stage revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
    • This method may be a beneficial alternative for revision ACL surgeries.
