[Early diagnosis of cauda equina tumors]

The authors analyze possibilities of early diagnosis of cauda equina tumors based on examining 105 patients. Note the lack of pathognomonic symptoms. Distinguish, however, a considerable group of patients with a progressive disease course destined to a mandatory goal-oriented examination at specialized hospitals. Lay emphasis on the necessity of a mandatory analysis of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and CSF samples over time. Validate the necessity of carrying out positive myelography primarily with water-soluble contrast substances and computer-aided tomography with a purpose of differential diagnosis between spinal lesions associated with the radicular syndrome.
