Summary

Peripheral endothelial dysfunction is present in acute alcohol withdrawal syndrome. This dysfunction, indicated by impaired microcirculation, was observed before and after treatment, suggesting no major treatment influence.

  • Assessed microcirculation using post-occlusive reactive hyperemia (PORH) and spectral analysis of skin vasomotion.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze microcirculation and endothelial function in patients with AWS.
  • To evaluate changes in EF before and after 24 hours of treatment.
  • To explore detailed blood flow dynamics using spectral analysis segmentation.

Main Methods:

  • Studied 30 unmedicated AWS patients and matched controls.
  • Measured capillary blood flow via PORH test and spectral analysis.
  • Quantified withdrawal severity using the alcohol withdrawal scale (AW scale).

Main Results:
