A tough, fibrous membrane, the tunica albuginea, covers the testes, extending inward to form fibrous partitions or septa, dividing them into internal compartments called lobules. Observation:

  • A 7-year-old male presented with painless scrotal swelling.
  • The swelling was cystic and transilluminating on examination, mimicking hydrocele.
  • Ultrasonography revealed a solid testicular mass.

Findings:

  • Orchidectomy was performed for the testicular mass.
  • Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of mature cystic teratoma.

Implications:

  • Mature cystic teratomas can present atypically in children.
  • Diagnostic imaging like ultrasonography is crucial for differentiating benign from malignant testicular masses.
  • Early surgical intervention and histopathological analysis are essential for accurate diagnosis and management of pediatric testicular tumors.
