  • Thymosin beta 10 (Tβ10) is abundant in newborn saliva but absent in adults, suggesting a developmental role.
  • Previous research indicates Tβs play essential roles in various cellular processes.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the expression and localization of Tβ10 during human salivary gland development.
  • To understand the potential role of Tβ10 in salivary gland organogenesis.

Main Methods:

  • Immunocytochemistry was used to analyze Tβ10 expression.
  • Samples from human fetuses (13-33 weeks gestation) and newborns were examined.
  • Major and minor salivary glands were analyzed post-autopsy.

Main Results:

  • Tβ10 immunoreactivity was detected in all examined salivary glands.
