Does microvascular disease predict macrovascular events in type 2 diabetes?

Diabetic microvascular complications like retinopathy and nephropathy are linked to increased cardiovascular events in type 2 diabetes. Early detection of these microangiopathies is crucial for assessing vascular risk.
