  • Nearly all subjects displayed a flexed neck (91.0%) and a non-neutral wrist posture (90.3%).
  • Males were more likely to have protracted shoulders, while females were more likely to have a typing-side inner elbow angle <90°, especially when standing.
  • 46.1% used both thumbs for typing; no significant gender differences in typing style were found.

Conclusions:

  • Widespread non-neutral postures (flexed neck, non-neutral wrist) are prevalent among mobile device users.
  • Specific gender differences in shoulder and elbow positioning were observed.
  • Further investigation is needed to link these non-neutral postures to potential musculoskeletal disorders.
